The Observance
One day a year, the bread puffs and the friends gather.
Chole Bature Day is the unofficially-official holiday dedicated to the finest pairing known to brunch: spiced chickpeas and gloriously fried bread. Once a year, on the 28th of June, we put down everything else, find a table big enough, and order more than is strictly reasonable. There are no gifts to buy and no cards to send — only plates to empty and friends to keep.
How It's Celebrated
The three sacred rituals.
Assemble
Round up the friends. A celebration of one is just lunch — the holiday needs a table.
Order generously
Chole, bature, and one of everything that looks good. Leftovers are tomorrow's blessing.
Stay a while
No rushing. The point was never the food alone — it was the people you ate it with.
